Standard Paper: Open the rear paper tray, fan a stack of up to 150 sheets, align to the right guide, and set the left guide to match paper width. The printer auto-detects paper size.
Heat Transfer Paper: Use the manual feed slot (single sheet at a time). Insert coated side face-down for heat transfer media. Set paper type to "Heat Transfer" in your print settings before printing.
Labels: Use the manual feed only. Ensure labels are fully attached to backing — partial peel can cause jams.
Try these steps in order:
1. Power: Confirm the printer is on (blue LED steady).
2. Connection: Check USB or WiFi is connected. Try turning off WiFi and reconnecting.
3. Queue: Open your system's print queue and cancel any stuck jobs.
4. Paper: Ensure paper is loaded correctly and the tray is fully closed.
5. Ink/Ribbon: Check ink or transfer ribbon levels in the printer display.
6. Restart: Power off the printer, wait 30 seconds, and power on again.
Still stuck? Contact us at hi@hpsmartprinter.com.
1. Turn off the printer and unplug from power.
2. Open the rear access panel by pressing the two grey release tabs simultaneously.
3. Gently pull any jammed paper straight back — never pull at an angle as this can tear paper and leave fragments.
4. Check the front output tray and manual feed slot for any remaining paper.
5. Close all panels, plug in, and power on. Run a test print.
Important: Never use sharp objects to remove paper. If you see torn fragments inside, contact support before operating.
Poor quality is usually caused by one of these:
• Low ink/ribbon: Check levels and replace if below 10%.
• Dirty print head: Run the "Clean Print Head" utility from your printer's onboard menu (Settings → Maintenance → Clean Head). Do this 1–3 times.
• Wrong paper type: Ensure your print settings match the media loaded.
• Temperature too low (heat transfer): Increase temperature by 5°C increments and test.
• Print resolution: Set resolution to "High" or "Best" in print settings for important documents.
Recommended settings by substrate:
• Cotton (100%): 180°C, medium pressure, 15–20 seconds
• Polyester: 160°C, light pressure, 10–12 seconds
• Cotton/Poly Blend: 170°C, medium pressure, 12–15 seconds
• Mug (ceramic): 190°C, medium pressure, 90–120 seconds
• Sublimation paper: 200°C, firm pressure, 40–60 seconds
• Dark garments (with white base): 165°C, light pressure, 10 sec (first layer), then 170°C, 12 sec (top layer)
Always do a test transfer on a scrap piece first when working with new materials.
Peeling is caused by insufficient bonding during the transfer. Check:
1. Temperature too low: Increase by 5–10°C.
2. Time too short: Extend dwell time by 3–5 seconds.
3. Pressure too light: Increase to medium-firm.
4. Moisture in fabric: Pre-press the garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture before applying transfer.
5. Wrong paper type: Ensure you're using HiPi-compatible heat transfer paper for the fabric type.
After washing, always turn garments inside out and wash at 30°C or below.
The pressure knob on the top-right of the press is marked 1 (light) to 8 (firm). As a starting guide:
• Light (1–3): Thin fabrics, single-layer transfers
• Medium (4–5): Standard cotton, most everyday transfers
• Firm (6–7): Thick substrates, rigid panels, multi-layer transfers
• Very firm (8): Rigid items only (tiles, wood, metal plates)
To set: Place substrate under the platen, lower the handle until it rests on the surface, then tighten the knob until you feel resistance. This is your baseline — fine-tune from there.

On the printer display, go to Settings → Network → WiFi Setup → Manual. Use the arrow keys to select your network name (SSID) and enter your password.
